Tenderfoot badge

Prior to being inducted as a Boy Scout, a member must acquire some basic scouting knowledge.

The tenderfoot badge is the first badge a member of the Boy Scout troop would be acquiring. It is awarded in recognition and acknowledgement that the bearer of this badge is a member of the Scout movement, locally & globally !



To be awarded the tendefoot badge, a member has to be well-versed on the following:
  1. Rules on the Boy Scout uniform
  2. Prinsip Rukun Negara (National Principles)
  3. Malaysia Scout Emblem & World Scout Emblem
  4. Scout Promise & Scout Law
  5. Scout Salute & Scout Motto
  6. History of Scouting in Malaysia & History of the founder (Lord Baden Powell)
  7. Basic Knots: reef knot (buku sila), sheet bend (Bunga Geti), clove hitch (Simpul Manuk), Bowline (Tindih Kasih), Round Turn & 2 Half Hitches (Lilit Dua Simpul), Common Whipping (Lilit Pemati Biasa)
* This badge is to be worn on the left breast pocket.


ADVANCE BADGES

There are 3 advance badges that a Boy Scout has to obtain before proceeding to the King Scout Award :-
  1. Usaha Badge (Lencana Usaha)
  2. Maju Badge (Lencana Maju)
  3. Jaya Badge (Lencana Jaya)

Usaha Badge

 This badge is awarded to the Boy Scout, as a recognition of his interest in outdoor activities such as Camping, Cooking, Hiking, Physical Fitness, Scouting Skills and Service.

Prior to awarding this badge, a member has to obtain the Tenderfoot Badge and have to be certified in the following test :-

A. Scout Ambition
  1. Malaysian Flag & State Flag (state of the individual)
  2. National Anthem 'Negaraku' & State Anthem (state of the individual)
  3. Raising of the Flag
  4. VIP Names - Full name of DYMM Sultan/ Raja, TYT Yang Dipertua Negeri, Menteri Besar & Ketua Menteri
  5. Scout Promise & Scout Law
B. Physical Alertness & Activeness
  1. Basic Footdrill
  2. Stave Drill
  3. Scout Hand Signals
  4. Commando Obstacles
  5. Folding & Raising of the Flag
C. Scouting Skills
  1. Maintenance & Safe Keeping of an Axe & Knife
  2. Knots & Lashings: Fisherman's Knot (Simpul Himpit), Sheep Shank Knot (Simpul Pulih), Double Sheet Bend (Bunga Geti Ganda), Timber Hitch (Lilit Balak), Taut Line (Lilit Taut), Square Lashing (Ikat Seraya), Diagonal Lashing (Ikat Serong)
  3. Street Signs & Rules
  4. Choosing of Campsite
